In many businesses, the majority of the business-critical information is hidden in text documents. Software supported analysis, development and processing of such documents allows the automation of time-consuming processes and the development of intelligent, context sensitive information systems. With the help of special algorithms, text mining aims to enable computers to interpret texts, thus eliminating the need for manual interpretation of data by employees The Open Source data mining solution, Rapidminer, includes numerous features that can automate the preparation, analysis and content interpretation of text documents.
Possible applications of text mining procedures and computer linguistics are the automatic creation of metadata from text documents, the creation of semantic annotations, language recognition of documents as well as the automatic classification of documents. Text mining also finds its application in the development of semantic search applications or in sentiment analysis.
